A Hot Foil used for Appliques or treatment and Embellishment of fabric and textiles.

This Hot foil sheet is an Industrial Foil not to be confused with craft Foils.

It becomes fixed or adhered to the fabric with adhesive and a heat press.

Fixed with Heat but removed when Cool.

Backing can be Fuse-a-web, Bond-a-web, Textile glue or Adhesive dots. Experiment first.

Textile Glue or adhesive must be pliable to move with the fabric without cracking the foil.

Foils must always be placed on the surface you are treating with the shiny side facing up.

Place Teflon protective sheet over foil and use a hot iron-(medium setting)–NO STEAM– press for a minute or so, then leave to COOL  before removing foil sheet.

Experiment with different glues and heat settings as different effects are achieved.

Humidity does affect glue drying time and so I would suggest you test your fabric or glue first in sample forms.

Gold foil on a silk organza

Can be rinsed gently in cool water and air-dried.

Metallic Gold colour, Metallic Silver, Metallic Bronze and Metallic Gunmetal colours available.

An assorted pack of 4 sheets will have one sheet of each colour in.

23 micron polyester

A Teflon protective sheet must be used when ironing the foil onto the fabric.

These are available in approximate size 298 mm x 210 mm sheets.

As heat is needed to apply Appliques, it is advised that the fabric has to be able to withstand the heat. Some synthetic fabrics i.e. lycra do not manage the heat and distort.

Always try a sample first.

If a larger size is needed it can be sold by the metre. 50 cm width x 1 metre. or 60 cm x 1 metre.

The metre pieces have to be rolled and mailed as a medium parcel or sent with a Courier. £6.00 second class with Royal mail.
